While Cliff Steele suffers from full-body amputation that renders sex generally a purely theoretical pursuit, while Larry Trainor is both trapped under special bandages and upstaged by the radioactive energy creature living inside him, Kurt Wagner is “hated and feared” like the rest of the X-Men because he looks like a demon, right? Except for the part where he is smooth as fuck, a flawless gymnast with fur like velvet, a dashing rogue that all the ladies (and obviously some of the dudes, though Claremont wasn’t going to talk about that) want to fuck. For a lot of publishing-related reasons the Doom Patrol and X-Men are tangled together, one feeling like the undulating fantasy of the other, the freak that can get laid. 

I have always loved this image of Nightcrawler.  I don’t think anyone has drawn him as well as Alan Davis.
